Boxed Lunch Option
PPT has partnered once again with everyone’s favorite Salisbury lunch spot- Sidewalk Deli. Pre –ordered box lunches will be available this summer for campers who want them. Cost is $5 a day. Boxed lunch will include a fresh made sandwich, side, dessert, and drink and will be delivered to the theater. Menus will be sent with registration forms. Campers do not have to purchase lunch for every day, they can pick and choose daily if they like. Lunch orders must be received before the first day of class to be guaranteed. Campers are welcome to bring their own lunch if they do not want the boxed lunch option.

Peter Rabbit & Friends Take The Stage (Ages 4-6)


Instructor:  Caroline Stephenson
Young actors will bring Beatrix Potter's beloved characters to life as we explore the world of Peter Rabbit! We'll be bunnies, ducks, mice, frogs, and more as we create our own mini-production with songs, creative movement, and storytelling. The entire week will have a garden and nature theme with art projects, snacks, and games. Basic creative drama skills will be introduced. A sharing for family and friends will take place on the last day of camp. 

June 18-22

Peter Pan (Grades 2-5)


Instructor:  Gwen Matthews
This summer, join us for an unforgettable adventure where you can dream and never grow up.  For one-week, campers will explore Peter’s never-ending childhood having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys, interacting with fairies, pirates, and mermaids.  The fun filled week will end with a Friday performance for family and friends.

June 25-29

Annie (Grades 2-5)


Instructor:  Gwen Matthews

Join PPT Youth Director Gwen Matthews as she tackles some of the most popular songs and choreography in musical theatre history!  This camp will explore everyone’s favorite orphan as she searches for her parents with her loyal dog- Sandy.  Campers will spend the week learning scenes and songs from the show culminating in a short performance on Friday for family and friends.

Acting Up (Grades K-2)


Instructor:  Anne Cote Hoffman
Back by popular demand!  Little ones want to have fun and do theatre too! Theatre is a great way for young students to learn and express themselves. Campers will play games, do puzzles, and learn basic acting and design skills. This camp will not have an end of the week program since the focus is not performance but fun and process.

July 9-13

Pirate Vacation Extravaganza (Ages 4-6)


Instructor:  Caroline Stephenson
Little mates will have a blast creating their own swashbuckling mini-production in this week of pirate-themed activities, songs, and dance. Sea worthy art projects and games will keep campers afloat, as well as a fun daily snack. Basic creative drama skills will be introduced. Everyone will play an equal part in a sharing for family and friends on the last day of camp. 

Broadway Boot Camp (Grades 6-12)


Instructor:  Gwen Matthews

One of the most popular PPT camps ever is back this season!  Come learn the dance steps and songs of some of the most popular shows in Broadway history!  By the time this camp is over you will sorry to see it go.

Shakespeare’s Star Wars (Grades 6-12)

Come experience Star Wars in a whole new way.  Shakespeare has never been more fun.

Summer In Wonderland (Grades 2-5)


Instructor:  Caroline Stephenson

Journey to Wonderland as we create a mini-production inspired by Alice's famous journey! All of your favorite characters will come to life as we use creative drama exercises to build our performing skills. Activities will include daily art projects and games. Our mini-production will feature storytelling, songs, and movement. We'll share for family and friends on the last day of camp.

The Jungle Book Performer Camp (3rd-12th grades)
Instructor:  Gwen Matthews
The most popular camp every summer!  Spend ten rehearsal-filled days learning the wonderful musical script of an all time Disney favorite- THE JUNGLE BOOK!   Plenty of singing, dancing, and exciting characters!  Join us for a summer production! This is a two-week intensive camp that will put together the production of The Jungle Book complete with costumes, props and a set. Campers will learn choreography, music, and scenes with a performance on the 10th to show off what they’ve learned. *Campers must attend both weeks.

Aug 6-10

Backstage Crew Camp (6th-12th Grades)


The real work in theatre happens behind the scenes.  Come learn what it takes to bring a live production to the stage.  Campers will get an overview of costume and makeup design, stage management, lights and sound and much much more.  Students will learn the importance of teamwork while meeting with the director and other designers to create a cohesive whole production.  At the end of the week you will have the chance to see your creation on stage.

About Our Talented Instructors

Gwen Matthews is excited to be joining us for her fifth season of Summer Theatre Camps!  Gwen’s camps are always among our most popular.  Last season most of her camps were sold out.  In addition to our summer camps, Gwen teachers PPT’s youth musical audition camps.  She has also directed PPT’s Productions of Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS, Honk Jr., The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr., The Little Mermaid and High School Musical.  This summer she will bring Disney’s TARZAN to the Norvell stage.

Caroline Stephenson holds the M.M. and B.M. in Music Performance from Winthrop University. For over 10 years she has been taught classes in creative drama, dance, and music for Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Matthews Playhouse, The Uwharrie Players and others, and directed, music directed, and performed throughout NC and SC. This spring, she toured with Children's Theatre of Charlotte in the world premiere of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". She was awarded a 2017 Regional Artist Project Grant from the Arts & Science Council. Caroline is instructor of voice for musical theatre at Catawba College and is also on faculty at Central Piedmont Community College in the Department of Music. She and her husband Mark have two young children

Anne Cote Hoffman has a BA in Communication Arts from Catawba College where she performed and volunteered with The Blue Masque and a MA in School Counseling from UNC-Charlotte. Over the years, Anne has performed in many productions with Piedmont Players, St. Thomas Players and Lee Street Theater. As one of our original Drama Camp teachers, she helped build and expand the program to what it is today. She is thrilled to have been the first drama teacher of many of the young actors you see on The Norvell and Meroney stages. "After teaching drama for several years, I am still amazed with the children's imagination and what great natural teacher drama is for social skills."
