Piedmont Players Theatre Presents Fiddler on the Roof

SALISBURY, N.C. — Piedmont Players Theatre will open its new season with the beloved musical Fiddler on the Roof on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Meroney Theater.

Set in the village of Anatevka, Fiddler on the Roof follows Tevye, a Jewish milkman trying to hold tightly to tradition as his daughters begin making choices that challenge expectations. The musical balances humor, family, romance, and community with a story that has connected with audiences for over 60 years. Featuring a celebrated score that includes “Tradition,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “To Life,” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” Fiddler on the Roof remains one of the most enduring works in musical theatre.

“Fiddler on the Roof has been loved by audiences for generations, and there’s a reason it continues to resonate,” said Piedmont Players Theatre Managing Director Kevin Dietzel. “At its heart, it’s about family, change and trying to hold on to the things that matter while the world around you keeps moving. We’re excited to open our season with such a strong cast and creative team bringing that story to the Meroney stage.”

The production is directed by Nick Zayas, with choreography by Tod A. Kubo and music direction by Nicholas Fuqua.

Mitchel Sommers leads the cast as Tevye, with Debbie Hubbard as his wife, Golde. Their daughters are played by Leah Hall (Tzeitel), Alyssa DiDonato (Hodel), Charlotte Juge (Chava) Daleiah Waters (Shprintze), and Emma Stephenson (Bielke).

The cast also features John Pace as Motel, Alijah Wilson as Perchik, Patrick Browne as Fyedka, Jacob Brayton as Lazar Wolf and Wendy Weant as Yente.

Fiddler on the Roof runs Oct. 9-25 at the Meroney Theater, 213 S. Main St., in Salisbury. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at piedmontplayers.com or by calling the box office at 704-633-5471, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fiddler on the Roof is made possible in part by producing partners David Post and Martha Smith.
