Piedmont Players Partners with Rowan Helping Ministries for Holiday Food Drive
Published: November 6, 2025
SALISBURY, NC – November 6, 2025: Piedmont Players Theatre is proud to announce a special partnership with Rowan Helping Ministries to help fight food insecurity in our community. During the theater’s next two productions, A Wrinkle in Time (opening November 7 at the Norvell Theater) and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (opening December 5 at the Meroney Theater), audience members are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to help stock the shelves for local families in need.
Food scarcity in Rowan County is at an all-time high, and your help is urgently needed to ensure that no family goes hungry this season. As a thank you, anyone who brings four qualifying food items from the list below will receive one free non-alcoholic concession item during the show.
Most Needed Items:
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Canned yams and green beans
- Stuffing mix
- Canned hams
- Canned soups
- Breakfast items (oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, etc.)
- Beans (canned or bagged)
- Canned fruit and fruit cups
All donations collected by Piedmont Players will go directly to Rowan Helping Ministries’ self-shop pantry, where families can choose the foods that best meet their needs.
“Piedmont Players is a community theater, and that word really means something. Especially in a community as tight-knit as this,” says Kevin Dietzel, Managing Director. “ When Madisyn Prater, who is in the show and works for Rowan Helping Ministries, came to us with this idea, it was such an obvious fit. Food scarcity plays as a theme in Best Christmas Pageant Ever, so art was really imitating life, and it’s given us an opportunity to help where we can.”
Join Piedmont Players this holiday season as we come together through theatre and generosity to support our neighbors in need.
