Piedmont Players Theatre to Celebrate Dolly Parton’s Legacy with Special Screening Benefiting Rowan County Literacy Council

SALISBURY, N.C. — Piedmont Players Theatre will celebrate the life and legacy of Dolly Parton with a special screening of Steel Magnolias on Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at the Norvell Theater in downtown Salisbury. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Rowan County Literacy Council and its work to promote literacy throughout the local community.

Dolly Parton gave generations of fans memorable performances, legendary music and plenty of joy, but one of the most meaningful parts of her legacy was her lifelong commitment to children’s literacy. Through this special event, Piedmont Players Theatre will bring the community together to celebrate that commitment while supporting literacy efforts right here in Rowan County.

“As a nonprofit rooted in Rowan County, we’re proud to use this evening to support another organization making a difference in our community,” said [NAME/TITLE]. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate Dolly, enjoy a beloved film together and support a cause that meant so much to her.”

The evening will feature a screening of Steel Magnolias, the beloved 1989 film starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts.

South Main Book Company will also join Piedmont Players Theatre for the event. Guests who make an additional donation to the Rowan County Literacy Council will receive a free children’s book, further connecting the evening’s celebration with the importance of reading and access to books.

The screening begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, at the Norvell Theater, 135 E. Fisher St., Salisbury. Tickets are $7 per person.
